Littlefoot, the main character in Land Before Time, is a fictional species of dinosaur known as an Apatosaurus. This long-necked herbivore was also commonly called a Brontosaurus, but recent studies have determined that the Brontosaurus was actually a distinct species from the Apatosaurus. Despite this, the Land Before Time franchise continues to refer to Littlefoot and other characters as “brontosaurs”. Littlefoot is depicted as having a large head, a long tail, and distinctive scales or plates along his back.
